One of the most important aspects of FBLA is the competitive events program. With over 50 different competitive events, members apply their skills in different fields at the region, state, and national levels. Competition formats include oral/presentation events, team events and individual events.

Competition topics range from producing digital videos and business plans to entrepreneurship and parliamentary procedure. Many competitive events consist of taking an objective test, but many other events include presentation, simulation, or oral portions. The majority of the competitive events begin at the regional level, with almost all individual events and some team events falling into this category. Top-placing competitors would then advance to the state and potentially national conferences.

River Hill FBLA has a long tradition of success at the regional and state level. River Hill has won the state championship trophy many times since its birth in 1999. In 2006, we retired the trophy, proof that we have won the state championship 9 times in 11 years. And at this year’s State Leadership Conference, River Hill FBLA has won the Louis T. Kaminski Award for the eighth consecutive year. Such success would not be possible without tremendous support from the chapter. With intensive study sessions and workshops, River Hill FBLA is dedicated to maintaining its competitive excellence for years to come.

At River Hill, each member is encouraged to participate in one competitive event. Members will be asked to fill out an interest sheet and participate in preliminary placing. In order to compete you must be able to attend the Regional and State conference. Information about the competitive event registration and preliminary placing process can be found below.
